I believe that fostering a deep therapeutic relationship is a healing experience in itself. I draw on attachment theory, Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), and mindfulness to co-create a compassionate, nurturing space where you can feel empowered and affirmed. I treasure moments of attuned connection with clients — whether through shared laughter, reflective silence, or the process of repairing any bumps along the way.

Authenticity and connection are at the heart of my therapy work.

My approach is deeply rooted in anti-oppression and cultural humility. As a Social Worker, I bring a strengths-based, person-in-environment perspective, recognizing the profound impact of systemic oppression on our personal and collective mental health. I acknowledge the racist history of social work and psychotherapy and I am dedicated to challenging traditional power dynamics. My goal is to cultivate an environment where you experience compassion and validation. I see myself as a collaborative partner, rather than the expert, in your journey, helping you tap into your own power and intuitive healing.

As a white, non-disabled, thin, middle-class American citizen, I am continually striving to understand both my privilege and the complex challenges faced by marginalized communities. I recognize that trust must be earned, and I am committed to openly discussing identity, race, power, privilege, and culture as it feels relevant and helpful for you. Above all, I aspire to bring a sense of safety and inclusion to the therapy room.

I am passionately drawn to working with trans and non-binary folx, women and femmes, survivors of interpersonal violence, and those grappling with disordered eating and body image concerns. As a gender expansive person, my own healing journey has fueled my passion to support those facing similar challenges, especially LGBTQIA+ clients and couples who may find solace in a clinician with shared identities.

Let’s Get Personal

A little about me – I was born and begrudgingly raised in Texas, as evidenced by my enthusiastic use of the word "y'all" (hey, it's inclusive!). Over the years, I've come to see Texas as my home. I believe in the creativity and resilience of our communities, and I refuse to discount the south. After graduating from Southwestern University with a B.A. in Feminist Studies, I spent several years doing reproductive justice work before transitioning to the tech industry for longer than I'd care to admit. Over time, my personal experiences in therapy sparked a passion for mental health, and I felt called to become a therapist. I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin. Before working at Sanctuary Counseling, I provided individual and group therapy, as well as crisis intervention, to undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Texas Counseling and Mental Health Center. When I’m not seeing clients, I love experimenting in the kitchen, practicing joyful movement, spending quality time with my spouse and close friends, and starring in my own at-home fashion shows.

“I touch my own skin, and it tells me that before there was any harm, there was miracle.”

Details

I work with individual adults ages 18 or older and couples.

I do not take any form of insurance and am considered an out-of-network provider. I can provide a superbill, also known as a detailed receipt, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement purposes. I recommend checking with your insurance company prior to beginning services to see if reimbursement is an option. If your insurance benefits include a health savings account (HSA) or a flexible spending account (FSA), you can pay for therapy with those funds.

Sanctuary Counseling offers equity pricing for clients who are on a limited income, especially those holding historically oppressed identities, who need financial assistance to make care accessible. These spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. My equity fee spots are currently full. I am happy to add you to my waiting list for an equity fee spot or provide referrals for lower-cost therapy in Austin, Texas.
